Vascular Skills Courses

We offer three skills based training courses for surgeons covering the fundamental vascular and endovascular techniques needed for patients presenting with life or limb threatening vascular conditions

Fundamental Skills in Vascular Surgery

This course is aimed at general surgeons, orthopaedic surgeons and cardiothoracic and vascular surgeons at any stage of training. It focusses on assessment and management of patients presenting with vascular or limb threatening pathology, and offers hands on skills for limb salvage with minor amputations, vein harvest and reconstruction, embolectomy in addition to major limb amputation techniques.

Advanced Skills in Vascular Surgery

This 2 day course is aimed at senior CTVS and general surgical trainees and junior consultants involved in the care of patients with limb threatening disease.

It offers hands on surgical skills training focussing on major aorto-iliac, axillary, upper and lower limb vessel exposures, tunnelling and anastamosis techniques relevant to limb salvage surgery.

Fundamentals in Endovascular Surgery

This 2 day course is aimed at cardiothoracic and vascular surgeons, interventional radiologists, cardiologists, and all those involved in endovascular reconstruction for peripheral arterial disease.

It is a hands on workshop, covering aspects of safe ultrasound guided vascular access, techniques for crossing and treatment, and closure devices. We will focus on practical skills using models and endovascular simulators with plenty of time for hands on practice.
